On 5 and 6 September 2026, HYROX sets up its eight stations at the Metropolitan Expo in Athens. It is the first race the circuit has ever held in Greece, and the country has no champion to defend. Schedule, access and stakes.
Update, 7 September: the race has been run. All the podiums and station times are in our HYROX Athens 2026 results recap.
On Saturday at 10am, a SkiErg will start turning inside an exhibition hall parked next to the runways of Athens airport. The gesture is ordinary. The date is not. No HYROX race had ever been held in Greece.
On 5 and 6 September, the Metropolitan Expo hosts HYROX Athens: fourteen division starts, two days of racing, and a handful of titles that have never been awarded anywhere in the country. The official event page puts it plainly, it is there to crown the first ever HYROX Athens champions.
A country starting from nothing
Greece has no HYROX history. No race, no national record, and no Greek athlete in the global elite points ranking at the time of writing. The community was already there: affiliated gyms in Athens and its suburbs, training groups, people flying out to race in Rome, Vienna or Barcelona. This weekend, they race at home.
That changes what the event means. In Bordeaux or Berlin, a race confirms an established pecking order, you roughly know who wins and in what time. In Athens nobody turns up with a local benchmark. Public start lists show around 2,300 entries, a little under half of them in the two Open divisions, and the first name on the Greek roll of honour will stay there forever.
The schedule, hour by hour
HYROX publishes a provisional schedule that can still move, and individual start times only go online about three days before the race. Times below are Athens local time, one hour ahead of France.

Age group awards are handed out once every athlete in a division has raced. On site registration opens ninety minutes before the first wave of each division, ID required, and nobody can check in on someone else's behalf.
An exhibition hall next to the runways
The Metropolitan Expo is the largest exhibition centre in Greece, opened in 2008 in Spata, Attica. HYROX takes over halls 3 and 4. The official address refers to building 603A of Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, which sums up the geography rather well: the venue sits across the road from the runways.
From central Athens, metro line 3 runs straight to the airport, allow about an hour from Syntagma. The suburban railway stops at the same station, and so do the X92, X93, X94, X96 and X97 express buses. By car on the Attiki Odos, the organiser quotes thirty five minutes from the city centre, and on site parking is free.
In early September Athens sits around thirty degrees in the afternoon and twenty at night. The hall is indoors, but the temperature of a packed venue at 8pm on a September Saturday is not a detail when a hundred wall balls are still waiting. The midday Open waves, on both days, will be the most exposed.
What is actually at stake
The course never changes from one city to the next: eight one kilometre runs, with a station between each of them. In the order shown on the official venue map, that means SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, then Wall Balls. The start tunnel is branded Red Bull, the recovery area BLACKROLL, and the relay briefing is set for Sunday at 5pm.
One detail regulars always check and first timers forget: in Athens you go IN the third time you see the sign, on every one of the eight laps. For relays it is the third time on the first lap, then the second time on the ones that follow. Miscounting costs a penalty, not a time.
Beyond the podiums, this race hands out places for the 2027 World Championships in Hong Kong, from 10 to 13 June. The 26/27 season rule is strict: one slot per age group, in the PRO divisions and in DOUBLES MIXED, with athletes aged 60 and over qualifying through the Open. There is no Elite 15 in Athens, the elite series races elsewhere this season, in Hamburg in late October and London in December.
Who is on the start list
The individual divisions carry 1,441 entries. Greece supplies 451 of them, Britain 123 and France 102, which makes it the third nation of the individual field with seven per cent of the entries. Doubles and relays do not display nationality, so the count stops there.
Those numbers say as much about the rest of Europe as about Greece. On 3 September, all twenty two athlete entry types for Athens were still on sale, at 124 euros for an individual bib. At the same moment Nice in late October and Paris in December had almost nothing left, with every individual Open division in Nice closed. Athens is one of the last debut races of the season where there is still room.
There is a second argument, less obvious. The qualification rule is identical everywhere, at least one Hong Kong slot per age group in the PRO divisions. The field is not: Athens has 346 PRO entrants, where last season's HYROX Paris lined up close to 1,500 according to our own data. The same ticket, in a corridor four times less crowded.
Following the results live
Times land throughout both days. On roxwall.fr/results/athens you get the ranking by division and gender, the age group ranking, and every athlete's station times, one by one. It is where the first names on the Greek roll of honour, the first αποτελέσματα of Greek HYROX, will show up on Sunday evening.
After that, the 26/27 season runs to a hundred and seven race weekends and HYROX is targeting two million athletes. The next French date is Bordeaux, from 30 September to 4 October, and the rest is in our HYROX 2026-2027 calendar. Until then, Greece is about to get its champions.
