Three days of racing, the first time on Portuguese soil, and a 20,000-capacity arena facing the Tagus. HYROX finally arrives in Lisboa from 1 to 3 May 2026. Here's everything you need to know.
“HYROX chega finalmente a Lisboa”
It's the organiser themselves who say it, in Portuguese, on the official page. HYROX finally arrives in Lisboa. The word “finally” isn't trivial. Across seven seasons, the format has touched Berlin, London, Madrid, Paris, Manchester, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Dublin, Vienna, Hong Kong, Las Vegas. Portugal was missing. That changes from 1 to 3 May 2026, at Lisboa's Altice Arena, in the ultra-modern Parque das Nações district, right across from the Tagus.
Three days of competition, the full division line-up on the programme, and a clear promise: to make Lisboa a recurring stop on the European circuit. Here's everything you need to know about what's about to unfold 1,200 km south of Cardiff, on exactly the same weekend.
The Altice Arena, a setting that changes everything
The Altice Arena, formerly known as MEO Arena and before that Pavilhão Atlântico, is Portugal's most emblematic multi-purpose venue. Built for the 1998 World Expo, it has since hosted Eurovision 2018, dozens of international basketball and handball games, and most of the major concerts that stop in Lisboa. Maximum capacity: 20,000. In HYROX configuration the arena becomes track: 8 km of running traced around the stations, 8 stations lined up under a curved structure that Portuguese architect Regino Cruz designed like an inverted ship's hull.
The official address is Rua do Bojador, 1998-010 Lisboa. As in Cardiff, the event is fully indoor: no Portuguese sun, no Tagus wind, controlled temperature. This time, expect Brazilian, Spanish and of course Portuguese athletes to set most of the strong times.
Why this first edition matters
HYROX launched in Germany in 2017 and has expanded fast since 2021. The arrival in Portugal completes the Western European map. For the Portuguese fitness scene, it's also a milestone: in recent years the country has produced an increasingly dense CrossFit and functional scene, especially around Lisboa and Porto, but with no flagship international event at home. The “fly to Madrid or wait for Lisboa” debate can finally be settled in favour of staying home.
Commercially, the bet is also clear: Portuguese-speaking carrier Altice gives its name to the arena, and Brazil, a heavyweight market for the brand, can now watch a European event in Portuguese. Expect a significant Brazilian contingent in Doubles and Open.

The three Relays go off in under 40 minutes to close Sunday, short and intense. The general award ceremony is at 21:30, just after the final finish. Mandatory relay briefing (one athlete per team) at 18:00 in the transition zone.
HYROX records that could fall
Cardiff 2025, the first British event after London, delivered a Pro Men winner in 57:16. For this first Portuguese edition, expect comparable times on Pro Men, around 57-58 minutes, and between 1:04 and 1:08 on Pro Women. It's on the Doubles format that Lisboa might really surprise: the Iberian community has a strong fitness-duo tradition (the peninsula has historically produced Southern Europe's best Doubles teams), and Pro Doubles Men should flirt with 53-54 minutes.
To benchmark yourself against these numbers, our guide “what's a good HYROX time?” details thresholds by division.
If you're travelling to Lisboa
Accommodation and transport
The Altice Arena is in Parque das Nações, 6 km from Lisboa's historic centre and 4 km from Humberto Delgado Airport. The metro (red line, Oriente station) drops you 5 minutes' walk from the arena. If you're looking for a nearby hotel, target the Oriente district (Tivoli, Olissippo Oriente, Myriad by Sana): you walk to check-in, you walk to the start. To stay in the historic centre (Bairro Alto, Chiado, Alfama), expect 25 minutes by metro every morning.
Athlete check-in
No early registration in Lisboa. Check-in opens 90 minutes before the first wave of each division, on the day of your race. No early check-in or check-in on someone else's behalf. ID required.
Sportograf, Race for Impact, and the Roxzone
Sportograf remains the official photo partner: facial recognition, photos available 48h after the race when you upload a selfie. Race for Impact (charity ticket option, €500 minimum to raise) stays active for 4 causes: Global Health, Climate Solutions, Mental Health, Women's Empowerment. And the Roxzone is the official term for the transition between run and station, a word you'll hear in every direction on site.
Tourism between waves
If you're racing on Saturday only, use Friday to climb up to Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, take tram 28 up to Alfama, and try the real pastel de nata at Manteigaria (not Belém, that's a tourist trap). If you race on Sunday, Saturday night Bairro Alto is a classic. And the cidade das sete colinas, as the official HYROX comms puts it, deserves to bump up your step count even on a tapering day.
How to follow Lisboa 2026 if you're not there
All results will be published on ROXWALL as the waves come in. Check them here: HYROX Lisboa 2026 results. Filter by division, by sex, or search for an athlete directly by name. Each athlete card details the 16 splits (8 runs + 8 stations).
