From 4 to 6 September 2026, HYROX sets up its eight stations in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, inside a Santiago Calatrava building. The circuit's first race in the Canary Islands, more than 4,800 lines on the start list, and not a single athlete entry left to buy.
Update, 7 September: the race has been run. All the podiums and station times are in our HYROX Tenerife 2026 results recap.
On Friday at 2pm, the first wave will set off under a concrete hull sitting on the seafront of Santa Cruz. HYROX had already raced on five continents, never in the Canary Islands.
From 4 to 6 September, the Recinto Ferial de Tenerife hosts sixteen division starts spread over three days. On the eve of the race, all thirty two athlete entry types were closed on the official ticket shop. Only spectator tickets at 15 euros were left. For a first edition on an Atlantic island, that says something.
A season opener, but which season?
HYROX bills Tenerife as the launch of the 26/27 season. It is a fine line, and a slightly generous one. Thirteen races from that same season have already been run elsewhere, from Jakarta in late June to Perth in late August, by way of Sydney, Bangkok, Chiba, Shenzhen, Delhi and Cape Town. Washington is racing right now, since Thursday.
What Tenerife really opens is the European season. Before it, only one 26/27 race had been held on the continent, in Istanbul in early August, and even that one straddles two of them. It also starts the Spanish season: six races this year, with Tenerife going first, ahead of Valencia in October, Barcelona in November, Bilbao in February, Madrid in March and Malaga in April.
The schedule, hour by hour

Who is on the start list
The official start lists carry more than 4,800 lines across the three days, including 2,128 entries in the individual divisions. Within those individual divisions Spain leads with 953 entries, Britain is second with 494 and France third with 130. The doubles and relay divisions do not display nationality, so the count stops at individual racing.
Nearly five hundred British entries on a Spanish island is not an accident. Tenerife has been a year round destination for British travellers for decades, and the race sits on a long weekend at the end of the summer. The French contingent has a different reason: at the start of September, Nice in late October and Paris in December had almost no entries left on sale, which pushes anyone still looking for a 2026 race towards Bordeaux at the start of October, or abroad.
A Calatrava building on the waterfront
The Recinto Ferial de Tenerife is no ordinary exhibition hall. Opened in May 1996 on Avenida de la Constitución, in the Cabo Llanos district, it was designed by Santiago Calatrava. The building covers more than 40,000 square metres by the sea, and its great hall runs 200 metres long by 72 wide, with almost 20 metres of clearance and not a single pillar. Twelve thousand square metres in one piece, the largest room in the whole archipelago.
Getting there is easy: around five hundred free parking spaces around the building, a TITSA bus stop less than three hundred metres away, the Santa Cruz tram nearby, and two airports on the island, Tenerife North and Tenerife South. Expect 26 to 29 degrees this weekend, but the racing is indoors: the heat is a travel and spectator problem, not a finishing time problem.
What is still missing
On the eve of the race, two pieces of information were still absent from the official page: the number of laps to run on each running section, marked as to be confirmed, and the early bib collection times, also to be confirmed. HYROX often publishes these in the final days, but it is worth refreshing the page on Thursday evening rather than trusting a screenshot from last week. The relay briefing is set for Sunday at 4:30pm, and one member of each team has to attend.
Everything else is unchanged: eight one kilometre runs, with a station between each of them, in the order SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, Wall Balls. Like every race this season, Tenerife hands out places for the 2027 World Championships in Hong Kong, at least one per age group in the PRO divisions and in DOUBLES MIXED. There is no Elite 15 here: the elite series races in Hamburg in late October, then London in December.
Following the results live
Times land throughout the three days. On ROXWALL.FR/results/tenerife you get the ranking by division and gender, the age group ranking, and every athlete's station times, one by one.
After that the European calendar accelerates: Maastricht and Izmir in mid September, Rome and Oslo at the end of the month, then Bordeaux from 30 September to 4 October. Every date is in our HYROX 2026-2027 calendar.
