HYROX Helsinki 2026: The Ice Melts Under the Heat of Performance!
Helsinki, May 9, 2026. The air might have been crisp, but the atmosphere at Messukeskus Helsinki was absolutely electric! No less than 4379 athletes converged on the Finnish capital for a day of pure HYROX madness. One day to push limits, one goal: finish, and if possible, beat a personal best. Open Men: The Sub-Hour Battle
The Open Men category delivered an incredible spectacle, with no less than 9 athletes finishing under the hour, showcasing an exceptional level of performance. We witnessed a true explosion of personal bests, a clear sign that preparation was on point!

What can we say about this category? Simply breathtaking! The victory goes to Tyler Spence (GBR) who smashed his personal best in 00:56:37, improving his previous Cardiff time by almost a minute and a half. What a performance! The Dutchman Xavier Pocorni was right there, taking second place with a time of 00:58:22, a gain of over 6 minutes on his Amsterdam PB. Incredible! Julian Fiedler (AUT) completed this dream podium in 00:58:46, also hitting a new PB. The suspense was intense with local hero Sami Maamela (FIN), who, in his very first HYROX race, secured a dazzling 4th place in 00:58:59. Hats off! British athletes shone particularly bright, with Adam Young (00:59:18) and Luke Walker (00:59:30) both setting massive PBs. Luke, in particular, shaved almost 19 minutes off his Melbourne time! Finally, our French representative, Jérémy Espagnol, closed out the top 10 in 00:59:50 with a new personal best, proving that consistency pays off.
Open Women: Finnish Home Dominance
Among the Open Women, the atmosphere was electric, and the Finnish athletes truly showed they were on home turf! A real wave of local pride swept through this category.

She led the charge for Finland! British athlete Hannah Lavery took 2nd place in 01:05:37, gaining almost 3 minutes on her Stockholm PB, demonstrating rapid progress. The podium was completed by Dutch athlete Eva Broere in 01:05:54, also with a new personal best. But what stood out most in this category was the performance of the local athletes: Julia Kajava (4th, 01:06:46), Annemari Sandell (6th, 01:07:31), Outi Matikainen (8th, 01:07:49), Petra Muukka (9th, 01:10:00) and Jonna-Carita Kanninen (10th, 01:10:41), all in their first HYROX participation! They impressed with their determination. Also noteworthy, Bella Steains (AUS) improved her PB by over 8 minutes, proving the trip was well worth it!
Pro Men: A Clash of Titans
In the Pro Men category, the field density is always impressive. We were treated to a moment-by-moment battle between ultra-experienced athletes, accustomed to international podiums.

The podium was completed by Italian Eugenio Bianchi in 00:55:57, confirming his form after a strong time in Bologna. Ollie Russell (GBR) and Luis García Rubio (ESP) completed this top 5 of champions, all veterans of the HYROX scene.

Among the Pro Women, the competition was just as fierce, with athletes pushing their limits for exceptional times.

British athlete Lauren Stockley delivered a strong performance in 00:59:26, beating her personal best by over a minute from her last race in London! A spectacular improvement! In 4th place, Henrike Mauersberger (GER) impressed in her first HYROX participation with a time of 01:00:42. She was closely followed by Danish athlete Ida Mathilde Steensgaard (6 HYROX races) in 01:00:51.
