Frédéric Dubé arrived in Washington with a personal best to chase. He left with two wins. The athlete from Quebec took HYROX PRO MEN in 53:59, his first race under 54 minutes, then HYROX PRO DOUBLES MEN in 48:03 the following day alongside Cole Learn.
Around him, HYROX Washington DC has become the biggest operation of the season: five days of racing at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, from 3 to 7 September, with close to 19,300 athletes expected. It is the first time HYROX has spread a race across five days.
Frédéric Dubé wins twice in two days
On Friday, Frédéric Dubé closed HYROX PRO MEN in 53:59. Stephen Pelkofer led part of the race, right up to the Wall Balls, before the Canadian moved back in front through sheer consistency. Eleven seconds separated the two at the line, and the entire podium fitted inside 14 seconds.
His station times show where the race was decided: 26:43 of cumulative running across the 8 kilometres and just 4:07 spent in the Roxzone, the transition area. That is where races at this level are won.
On Saturday he pinned on a number again with Cole Learn and won HYROX PRO DOUBLES MEN in 48:03, the fastest time of the week across every division, 3:20 ahead of the next pair. The weekend moved him up six places in the season standings.

The most telling detail sits elsewhere: six of the top ten in HYROX PRO MEN set personal bests on that Friday. Pelkofer took 2:18 off his own. When a field moves forward as a block like that, it points to a fast race.
Vivian Tafuto climbs the standings
In the women's field, Vivian Tafuto won HYROX PRO WOMEN in 57:51, 37 seconds ahead of Rachael Wade. A former swimmer who competed at the 2016 US Olympic Trials and still works full time as an actuary, she is currently the world's leading athlete in the DOUBLES rankings. This win lifts her from seventeenth to fifth in the overall season standings.
Lauren Griffith completed the podium in 1:00:56, then returned the next day to win HYROX PRO DOUBLES WOMEN alongside Sydney Wells in 56:00.

The Open divisions are still racing on Monday
The PRO divisions were settled on Friday and Saturday, so those podiums are final. The Open and DOUBLES divisions run from Thursday through to Monday, and the last day is being contested as we publish. The rankings below can still move.
As things stand, Michael Curcio holds the fastest men's time with 57:15, taking almost three minutes off his personal best. He doubled up as well, posting 56:41 in PRO DOUBLES with Castenzio Venegas. In the women's race, Rose Avera leads with 1:02:34, and also ran DOUBLES MIXED in 57:24.

What Washington actually hands out
Beyond the podiums, this race offers age group qualifying slots for the World Championships, held in Hong Kong from 10 to 13 June 2027, a first for Asia. Frédéric Dubé and Vivian Tafuto are among the qualifiers, alongside the winners of several age brackets.
One French athlete earned a place: Vincent Bousquières, thirty-first in PRO DOUBLES MEN in 59:30 with Cole DeRosa, qualified in the 45-49 category. Julien Epale took fifty-eighth in PRO MEN in 1:06:21, and Louise Fermon posted 1:12:24 in HYROX WOMEN.
The numbers behind the race
Close to 19,300 athletes are expected across the five days, once you count both members of every pair and all four members of every relay team. For comparison, the Americas Championships held in the same venue last March drew 7,773 athletes: Washington in September is two and a half times that event.
The median time in HYROX MEN was 1:32:36, and 1:39:21 in HYROX WOMEN. If you are looking for a benchmark for your own race, these are solid ones, drawn from more than 2,000 ranked athletes in each division. 97 nationalities are represented, though the vast majority of entries are American: Washington remains the big East Coast fixture.
One line to ignore in the raw rankings
A time of 38:26 is circulating in some data feeds from this edition, credited to an athlete in the Open division. It matches no official result: the race timekeeper has no record of this athlete, and the time is incompatible with the format in any case. The genuine fastest women's Open time in Washington remains Rose Avera's 1:02:34.
What comes next
